Xbox Insiders have exciting news: they can now stream their owned games directly from their consoles using Xbox Cloud Gaming. This feature is being rolled out alongside the ability to stream some of the top Game Pass titles. While the list of compatible games hasn’t expanded yet, those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can stream a select number of games on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Microsoft Steps Up Xbox Cloud Gaming for Insiders
Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha preview rings can now enjoy the new streaming capability. This advancement means that 50 games not part of Game Pass are now available for streaming via Xbox Cloud Gaming. According to a recent Xbox Wire announcement, these Insiders can stream games using Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and this is also extended to PC, smartphones, and tablets across 28 different countries. An active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required to get in on this feature.
Initially, console streaming wasn’t expected until the following year, making this early release a surprise treat. If you’re participating in the testing phase, a cloud gaming badge can now be seen on supported games in your console library. You can even use filters like "Ready to play" and "Cloud gaming" to organize your games more conveniently.
Microsoft has mentioned that direct game launches from the Store app and streaming support in the Xbox app on Windows PCs are also on the horizon.
When the feature was first introduced last month, it allowed Game Pass Ultimate members to stream some owned games through web browsers. Currently, only 50 games are supported, but they include major titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
We’re eager to see this feature become available to all players, potentially by 2025. What about you? Are you excited to stream some of your favorite Xbox Series X|S games through Xbox Cloud Gaming? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to drop a comment below!
