Asian triple-A outsourcing company Winking Studios has made a significant move by acquiring China’s Mineloader. This acquisition is valued at £16.3 million ($19.87 million), with an initial upfront payment of $14.7 million. The remaining sum will be distributed over the course of the next five years, contingent upon the Shanghai-based company’s achievement of specific performance targets.
Established in 2003, Mineloader has built its reputation as an art outsourcing developer. This acquisition is the largest in Winking Studios’ history and marks a pivotal moment in expanding their role within the global video game industry. Johnny Jan, the CEO and founder of Winking Studios, expressed his excitement, saying, “This step significantly strengthens our position and opens up new opportunities for growth and innovation.”
Game art plays a crucial role in video game development, acting as the visual cornerstone that draws players in and defines their experience. With over 460 employees, Mineloader will effectively supplement Winking’s existing team of more than 800, enriching their service offerings and attracting new clients.
