As Honkai: Star Rail rolls out the Amphoreus chapter in its Version 3.0 update, HoYoverse lovers are treated to an expanding universe. The early looks at Amphoreus promise a captivating Greek-style world, where the main players are known as the Chrysos Heirs—a group chosen to undertake the unique task of “Flame-Chase,” which involves seizing the gods’ Coreflames. While this task might be unfamiliar to some newcomers of Honkai: Star Rail, seasoned fans of HoYoverse will recognize it as a nod to Honkai Impact 3rd.
Since its debut, Honkai: Star Rail has delighted fans by reimagining beloved characters from other HoYoverse games, like Seele and Bronya. It’s no shock then that the team is bringing back the celebrated Flame-Chasers from Honkai Impact 3rd for the Amphoreus storyline. Yet, the twist lies in how the Chrysos Heirs from Honkai: Star Rail will set themselves apart from their counterparts in Honkai Impact 3rd.
Jumping into the heart of Honkai: Star Rail’s Chrysos Heirs, the latest Golden Epic trailer paints a vivid picture of Amphoreus. A world plunged into darkness after a grueling war between gods and mortals, it leans on the prophecy that brings the Chrysos Heirs to light, charged with restoring Amphoreus by reigniting its vital Coreflames. While twelve members stand ready, only eight are set to join the lineup of playable characters. The mission they embark on, known as “Flame-Chase,” mirrors the essence of what the Flame-Chasers aim to achieve over in Honkai Impact 3rd.
The intriguing Flame-Chasers comprise thirteen MANTIS supersoldiers born from the ruins of the anti-Honkai group MOTH, survivors of the Binding Tragedy. Each carries the genetic imprint of Honkai Beasts, and their formidable strength ranks them according to their combat prowess.
Adding depth to our understanding of these warriors, MANTIS, or Massively Augmented Neo-Tech Integrated Soldiers, showcases superhuman abilities alongside strong innate Honkai resistance.
Despite their number, only ten Flame-Chasers have been transformed into playable characters in Honkai Impact 3rd. There’s some speculation that Honkai: Star Rail’s Chrysos Heirs may mirror these illustrious figures, yet the differences between them hint otherwise. Possibly the closest link is Phainon, who strikingly resembles Kevin Kaslana, the leader of the Flame-Chasers. Not to forget the trailer’s brief depiction of an unnamed pink-haired character echoing Elysia, heralding a possible appearance on Amphoreus.
In a captivating crossover hint, the potential synergy between Honkai: Star Rail’s unfolding narrative and Honkai Impact 3rd’s storyline could pave the way for a thrilling saga. The Chrysos Heirs focus on revitalizing Amphoreus closely aligns with the Flame-Chasers’ battle against the Honkai threat, but this time, they’ll have the Astral Express Crew by their side to uncover and tackle any Stellaron threat lurking beneath Amphoreus.
While there’s still a wait of just under two months until the eagerly anticipated Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 launches, fans can look forward to an enticing early taste with the upcoming “HonkaixHonkai” event on November 28. Given HoYoverse’s growing interest in crossover events, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to imagine a future game embracing the multiverse on a grander scale—featuring characters from Honkai: Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and perhaps even Zenless Zone Zero.
