Today marks a significant milestone for boxing sim enthusiasts as Halfbrick Studios, alongside Ian Fitz, the original creator, unveils the much-anticipated sequel to their hit title, The Thrill of the Fight. This eagerly awaited follow-up is now available in Early Access for Quest users.
Dubbed The Thrill of the Fight 2, this reimagined installment can now be enjoyed on Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. The original game was heavily focused on PvE encounters, but what really sets this sequel apart is its introduction of online PvP boxing, which fans have been clamoring for.
By launching in Early Access, the developers are offering gamers an immediate taste of multiplayer excitement. “This phase is all about bringing the community together through online play,” explains Halfbrick Studios. For those more keen on single-player modes, rest easy—more content, as well as improvements to the multiplayer features, are in the pipeline and will be introduced progressively during the Early Access phase.
Looking ahead, the studio anticipates continuing development throughout 2025, which will include new single-player elements. Expect to see competitive AI with unique behaviors and appearances, expanded training modes, and a steady stream of updates that will enhance and enrich the game experience.
Currently, players can enjoy creating their own avatars, compete in online PvP matches with skill-based matchmaking, and experience the intricate physics that aim to deliver a highly realistic boxing simulation. The Thrill of the Fight 2 also boasts a spectator camera feature, enabling others to watch matches as if they were part of a live sports event, viewable on a connected PC.
Ready to throw your hat in the ring? The Thrill of the Fight 2 is available for purchase on the Horizon Store, with a price tag of $10.
