According to IGN’s latest updates, there’s still no official word from Nintendo about changing the pre-order date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States. IGN’s report mentions Nintendo’s pre-order FAQ, which specifies that the first set of invitations for their pre-order program should start going out on May 8th. However, this date has been on their FAQ page since it originally went live on April 2nd, just before the delay announcement. We checked this information using an archived version of the site on the Wayback Machine, confirming that the date hasn’t changed since then.
Originally, the delay in Switch 2 pre-orders came about because of tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump, affecting shipments of the consoles to the U.S. These tariffs, which posed a considerable obstacle, have mostly been eased after a 90-day suspension. Yet, Nintendo remains silent on any updated plans for pre-orders in North America.
