Reports from Price Charting and shared by Comicbook highlight how some classic Sonic games have seen a significant uptick in their market prices, particularly after the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. For instance, the original Sonic Adventure 2 for Sega Dreamcast, which introduced Shadow to fans and heavily influenced the narrative of Sonic 3, has leaped from a $140 average to about $210, with some copies fetching over $300. Meanwhile, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on the GameCube soared from an average price of $60 to around $130, though the “Player’s Choice” version remains slightly more affordable.

It’s not just Sonic’s usual adventures seeing a price hike; Shadow-centric games are gaining value as well. The notorious 2005 Shadow the Hedgehog spin-off is climbing the charts, with the PS2 version going for $65, the Xbox edition approximately $90, and the GameCube release demanding a staggering $145.

These price fluctuations are largely attributed to Shadow’s impactful debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which not only achieved critical acclaim but also performed exceedingly well at the box office.
