It’s possible you haven’t heard of Rise of the Ronin since its release last year, but there’s a fresh announcement that might change that: The game’s PC port has just been revealed, and it could be enticing enough to grab your attention.
It’s a fantastic period for PC gamers and Team Ninja enthusiasts alike! Just recently, news broke that Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remaster of the classic action title, would be gracing the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and naturally, the PC. Hot on the heels of that announcement, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have confirmed that their 2024 release, Rise of the Ronin, will be available on PC as well. You won’t need to wait long either, as it’s set to launch on March 11. Interestingly, that places it in the same bustling month as Assassin’s Creed Shadows, another game set in a historical Japanese setting, which hits the shelves a bit over a week later. Make sure to take a look at the trailer for the PC version below—it’s quite impressive.
What’s exciting for PC players are the exclusive new features that will enhance the experience. These include support for stunning 8K resolution, DirectX 12 Ultimate, and both ultra-wide and super ultra-wide monitor capabilities. You’ll be able to enjoy gameplay at 120fps, with ray tracing and 3D audio providing rich storytelling. For those who prefer precise control, customizable keyboard and mouse settings are available, alongside AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution support and NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex features. The game has also been optimized for UI menu navigation using mouse clicks and leverages Intel XeSS graphics technology.
When Rise of the Ronin initially hit the market last year, it received generally positive feedback, though it wasn’t groundbreaking. Our reviewer, Sherif, rated it 3 out of 5, mentioning that, “While Rise of the Ronin offers some noteworthy experiences, many aspects feel outperformed by other titles. Team Ninja seemed to have chosen the wrong areas to refine. Instead of adopting the Elden Ring approach of blending exploration and discovery with challenging combat, Rise of the Ronin reverts to a more conventional open-world format that feels like a repetitive task, training players to anticipate rewards predictably. It’s a disappointing shift from Team Ninja, one that might prove to be a significant misstep.”
Here’s to hoping that the new Ninja Gaiden project, a collaboration with Platinum Games, turns out to be a superior endeavor!
