Riot Games has unveiled the title of their upcoming tradable card game, Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. Set against the backdrop of Runeterra, a universe familiar to fans of League of Legends and Arcane, Riftbound promises to expand this colorful world even further. Players can look forward to diving into a substantial collection, with Origins offering over 300 cards upon its debut. The launch is scheduled for summer in China, followed by a rollout in various English-speaking regions on October 25, as confirmed in Riot’s press release.
Riftbound offers flexible gameplay options—players can compete in one-on-one duels, team up for two-on-two matches, or indulge in an exciting free-for-all. Drawing similarities to the digital card game Legends of Runeterra, this new venture features champions as pivotal gameplay elements. Deck-building centers around these champions, integrating complementary cards for strategic depth. Pre-constructed Champion Decks are in the works, highlighting iconic characters like Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin. Expect appearances from favorites such as Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, Yasuo, and many more, with cards featuring in-game items, runes, and spells. The game’s official site also teases artwork featuring beloved champions like Kai’Sa and Ahri.
Fans can begin their Riftbound collection by opting for the Riftbound: Proving Grounds boxed set, composed of various starter decks, or by purchasing 14-card booster packs. Riot is teaming up with UVS Games to ensure these cards are easy to find in local game shops. If your local store stocks the UniVersus Collectible Card Game—which features characters from beloved series such as Attack on Titan and Critical Role—it’s likely you’ll find Riftbound there too.
