Release of PS Portal Update 4.0.1 Now Available

Sony has somewhat stealthily introduced the PS Portal system software update 4.0.1, which focuses on some under-the-hood performance tweaks and stability enhancements. Despite the vague official details, gamers have already noted some tangible improvements, especially when it comes to cloud streaming.

Over on Reddit, some folks have found that you can now access the menu with the PS button on the handheld, avoiding the need for the previous swiping method. It’s worth mentioning, though, that this change seems to only apply when using the PS button during cloud streaming sessions. Additionally, you can now exit cloud streaming simply by using the Home button.

Delving further into the cloud streaming aspect, players are reporting that this update has sorted out some issues they were encountering with certain games like Watch Dogs: Legion and Final Fantasy VII Remake. What used to be startup problems for these titles now seem to be a thing of the past for those affected.
