It’s not uncommon for Marvel’s Disney+ series to experience some growing pains, and “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” is no exception. The first season often stumbled, trying to find its groove and set a consistent tone. While appearances from the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe were a treat—Daredevil’s included—the focus seemed to shift away from the core group of characters. This was unfortunate given the standout performances from Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
Despite these hiccups, “She-Hulk” had its moments, showcasing the potential of Marvel’s expanded universe. The series managed to strike a balance between comedy and thoughtful storytelling, even if its feminist themes occasionally felt a bit heavy-handed. It embraced a zany, self-referential style without crossing into parody, offering a glimpse into how everyday life unfolds for ordinary folks in a world where superheroes exist.
Of course, some shortcomings, like the less-than-stellar CGI, could be overlooked due to Tatiana Maslany’s compelling performance. Her vibrant portrayal of Jennifer Walters and her green counterpart brought a charming levity to the screen, anchoring the narrative effectively. In the end, Maslany’s exceptional talent added a spark that elevated the series, making those moments where the show stumbled easier to forgive.
