Facing significant backlash, Sony has decided to partially reinstate the PS Stars Wallet funds reward for several players globally. In the early hours today, many users found the $5/£5 (or equivalent) option available once more. While for some, this is the only tier that’s currently redeemable, others have discovered multiple denominations at their disposal.
Over the last month, frustrated players saw their Wallet funds reward vanish without explanation. Many speculated that renewing or upgrading their PS Plus subscription might act as a trigger for the rewards’ return. However, it’s essential to clarify that your PS Plus status or PS Stars level does not influence the availability of PS Store credit.
To give you a personal perspective, I’ve been a PS Stars Level 4 member with a basic PS Plus Essential subscription, and fortunately, never lost access to the £10 funds reward. But today, the £5 option has also popped back up. It’s not just me—numerous players, even those without an active PS Plus subscription, have reported a similar experience.
Sony has been notably silent on this matter, leaving countless gamers reaching out to PS Support, only to receive bizarre and inconsistent explanations. Whether the Wallet funds reward will fully return or remain spotty is still anyone’s guess.
On a positive note, it appears PlayStation has made strides in fixing another issue. As of this morning, players can finally use their points to redeem video game rewards from the PS Store—something that wasn’t possible up until yesterday.
