Hunters, the year 2025 has finally arrived, and the anticipation for Monster Hunter Wilds is building as we move closer to launch. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce the latest trailer and spill the details about the second open beta test (OBT2) on the horizon.
So, let’s dive into the fresh revelations from the newest trailer.
One of the most exciting locations revealed is the Iceshard Cliffs. The Hunter, along with the Expedition Team, heads into this icy expanse, where you’ll come across a variety of creatures that have adapted to its chill. Picture a place where snowy blizzards relentlessly swirl around.
In this glacial setting, you’ll spot traces of collapsed debris and mysterious objects fluttering in the frosty winds above. Remember, hunters need to stay warm to excel here, so don’t forget to pack a hot drink to keep the cold at bay.
Living in the harsh conditions of the Iceshard Cliffs are the resourceful Wudwud, but one has strayed far from home—meet Rove, an intriguing Wudwud who seems to have taken a wrong turn.
But monsters aren’t the only things to look out for. Let’s introduce you to some of the fearsome beasts roaming the Iceshard Cliffs:
Hirabami, a unique leviathan, uses its razor-sharp tail claws and a wind-catching membrane on its neck to float gracefully through the air.
The trailer’s intrigue deepens as we glimpse a large mysterious beast attacking a group of Hirabami. Drama mounts as Nerscylla, a Temnoceran and fan-favorite, returns with its deadly horn, seemingly intent on making prey of Gypceros.
Our trailer finale presents a dramatic encounter featuring the menacing Gore Magala surprising Fabius and the Expedition Team. The threat brutally escalates, setting the stage for an epic showdown in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Another tantalizing facet of this trailer is the evolving narrative centered around Arkveld, the enigmatic White Wraith. Delve into its hidden nature and the motivations behind its actions while exploring the rich storyline of Monster Hunter Wilds.
The upcoming second open beta test (OBT2) will offer players two windows to join the hunt, scheduled for February 6–9 and February 13–16, both of which will feature identical content. Make sure you’re ready as pre-load begins on February 5.
OBT2 will include previously featured content, such as Character Creation, Story Trial, and a hunt against Doshagma. Once that mission is accomplished, hunters will have more challenges waiting in the Windward Plains.
Expect to face off against Gypceros in OBT2, as the poisonous Bird Wyvern returns with its sharp wit and unique tactics. Additionally, get your first chance to battle Arkveld in a specially designed advanced quest for skilled and daring hunters.
A new Training Area is also available, where you can fine-tune your skills with various weapons in preparation for the intense hunts ahead. However, keep in mind that OBT2 doesn’t reflect all the weapon adjustments and balances coming in the full release.
For those looking to hunt with a specific group, you can now create a Private Lobby in OBT2, or opt for Online Single Player mode, enhancing your solo play experience. Temporarily dip into multiplayer mode using an SOS Flare if the urge hits during solo play.
Monster Hunter Wilds beckons you on February 28. Whether it’s your first time or you’re back for more, we’re excited for you to dive into the thrilling experience. OBT2 is accessible to all PS5 players with a PlayStation Network account, no PS Plus subscription needed. Participants will earn a Felyne pendant and Bonus Item pack for the full game, and PS5 Pro players can expect day one enhancements despite OBT2’s limited support. Don’t forget to conserve your characters’ creations from the beta tests for the main release!
Finally, if you’ve pre-ordered Monster Hunter Wilds from PlayStation Store, you’ll enjoy pre-loading 48 hours prior to release—get ready to maximize your hunting time without delay!
