A couple of months after being hit with legal action from Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, the developers behind Palworld, PocketPair, have finally responded.
The details, revealed on the company’s official news page, shed light on the accusations. The plaintiffs have requested an injunction to halt the game and are demanding payments of ¥5 million, which is roughly $32,763 at current exchange rates, from both Nintendo and TPC. Additionally, three Japanese patents were highlighted in the case.
These patents—JP7545191B1, JP7493117, and JP7528390—were filed in July, February, and March of 2024, with approvals coming through in August, May, and July respectively. For context, it’s worth noting that Palworld made its foray into early access back in January.
