Activision has recently dropped the hammer on more than 136,000 cheaters in the ranks of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. For players deeply entrenched in the competitive arena of Black Ops 6, this might seem like a mere dent in a much larger problem. Nevertheless, it’s a step in the right direction for those who enjoy this Xbox first-person shooter.
### Activision Shares Anti-Cheat Strategies for Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2.0
The massive wave of bans in Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2.0 is part of an ongoing effort to maintain fair play, thanks to advancements in the Ricochet anti-cheat systems. The team behind Ricochet has refined its methods to more effectively pinpoint and deal with offenders like aim botters and repeat offenders. In addition, there’s now a system in place to catch accounts that regularly team up with cheaters for quick gains.
Moreover, Activision is clear that their stance on “malicious reporting” is firm. Despite what some cheat developers suggest, flooding the system with reports doesn’t skew the results. As they explain, even if someone uses illegal tools to spam tens of thousands of reports, only one report per player is considered valid.
Looking ahead, when Season 2 launches on January 28, players can expect revamped client and server-side detection systems. Alongside this, there will be significant updates at the kernel level for better driver security and enhanced encryption processes. Moving further into the future, Season 3 promises innovations, including a fresh system dedicated to verifying legitimate players while homing in on cheaters, although more details on this will come later.
If you’re discouraged by the relentless tide of cheaters in Ranked modes, Activision brings promising news. Console players will be allowed to turn off cross-play with PC users in Ranked matches later in Season 2. This feature isn’t extending to the standard modes yet, but it’s certainly a promising development.
