In a surprising move just in time for Black Friday, Nintendo has slashed the prices on its Switch consoles, marking the first major discounts we’ve seen. The standard model and the Switch OLED are now available at $224.99 and $274.99, respectively, with each benefiting from a $75 reduction. These discounted prices are part of a seasonal package that also offers an impressive $79 in extras. Buyers will get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online. This access allows players to dive into online multiplayer, enjoy cloud saves, and play classic games. Plus, there’s the added bonus of the Nintendo Music mobile app.
Historically, Nintendo hasn’t been known for slashing console prices post-launch. Instead, they’ve leaned towards retailer-specific promotions which often sold out quickly, or tied deals offering discounts with subscriptions at places like Costco. Generally, Nintendo has preferred to enhance bundle value with extra games and trials. However, this time around, we’re seeing legitimate price cuts without sacrificing any of the extras. Whether these discounts will stick around post-Cyber Monday remains a question, though it wouldn’t come as a surprise if prices start to dip again as we edge closer to the anticipated 2025 release of the Switch 2.
In addition to these console deals, Nintendo is rolling out some fantastic savings on accessories and games. You can save $20 on the highly-rated Switch Pro wireless controller, known for its durability, and another $20 off pairs of Joy-Con controllers. There are also significant price drops on a range of must-play Switch games. The list of deals is extensive, so I’d recommend checking our continuously updated guide to early Black Friday gaming deals, which is packed with the latest bargains leading up to November 29.
