Gaming’s most notorious underflow error has returned for another spin.

In the realm of gaming this week, we overlooked Namco’s 1998 isometric action classic, Marchen Maze, which made an appearance in the Archives release.

This week, two major games are making waves on the surface: Civilization VII, featuring the most aggressively peaceful Mahatma Gandhi ever, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II, the latest in the somewhat chaotic Trails series. Despite its giant fanbase, Trails is not living up to expectations according to Jordan’s recent review, hinting that the indie scene might steal the spotlight. While Allison presents an interesting argument for Urban Myth Dissolution Center, I’d like to highlight Afterlove EP. This rhythm/adventure title, set in Indonesia, was first introduced during an Indie World showcase back in 2021 and promises to deliver quite a unique experience.

Other noteworthy releases include the Switch adaptation of the much-loved 2024 PC hit Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip. Also on Switch, keep an eye out for Undying, brought to us by a studio whose leader managed to avoid jail time for a drone incident involving efforts to combat the Los Angeles wildfires. And let’s not overlook Snezhinka, an RPG from Playism that sounds notably Russian.

Oh, and for those in Japan—get excited. A new Neptunia game is launching there. While this release seems exclusive to Japan, it’s a strategy RPG backed by a solid lineage, as Tony Schiavone might explain.
