Today, Apple rolled out the latest update for its Vision Pro headset, introducing VisionOS 2.4 to the public. This update brings long-awaited features like Apple Intelligence to the headset and a new app designed to improve the user experience. It also introduces the Spatial Gallery, which allows users to enjoy curated virtual content.
Previously, Apple had equipped iPhones, iPads, and Macs with Apple Intelligence capabilities, leaving the Vision Pro users questioning when the headset would catch up. Today marks the upgrade that many anticipated. VisionOS 2.4 introduces features that users of other Apple devices have come to rely on, such as text editing and image creation tools, including Image Playground and Genmoji.
Beyond this, VisionOS 2.4 tackles common challenges users face with the headset by offering new functionalities. The introduction of the Spatial Gallery app enriches the experience for headset wearers by offering them access to a variety of stereoscopic photos and videos curated by Apple. Initially, users can explore content from recognizable brands like Red Bull, Cirque du Soleil, and Porsche. There are behind-the-scenes looks at Apple Originals and exciting conversations with popular artists including Bad Bunny, Charli XCX, and Keith Urban.
To support the Vision Pro community further, Apple has unveiled a companion app for the iPhone. Similar to the Apple Watch companion app, this addition allows users to browse for new apps and media content available on the headset without needing to wear it. It also provides handy tips and crucial support details such as device version and serial numbers.
Vision Pro also saw improvements in its ‘Guest Mode’, designed for effortless sharing of the headset with friends or family. With VisionOS 2.4, users can now activate Guest Mode directly from an iPhone, smoothing the process significantly. Additionally, a new feature allows the owner to start View Mirroring from their iPhone, enabling them to see what the guest is viewing. This enhancement simplifies guiding guests, eliminating the need for complex navigation within the headset itself.
Furthermore, Apple is emphasizing upcoming launches for its exclusive Apple Immersive Video content. On April 4th, fans can look forward to “VIP: Yankee Stadium,” an in-depth presentation that captures the vibrancy of the iconic ballpark and its dedicated community. Later, on May 30th, “Bono: Stories of Surrender” will showcase the U2 frontman’s life, available as both a traditional video on Apple TV+ and as an immersive experience on Vision Pro.
These updates reflect Apple’s continued commitment to innovation and enhancing the user experience across its devices.
