New Characters Introduced in Dead by Daylight Update

The latest chapter in Dead by Daylight, titled Doomed Course, has hit the shelves, and you can grab it for just $7.99. This fresh DLC shakes up the game by introducing The Houndmaster, marking the first time a killer comes with an AI-powered companion, and a new survivor named Taurie Cain, whose skills revolve heavily around the concept of sacrifice.

Dead by Daylight has been enthralling players since its debut in 2016. It hit an impressive milestone of over 60 million players by late 2023 and continues to boast millions of active users each month. The game’s longevity can be attributed to constant updates and new content drops, which typically occur every quarter, keeping the community engaged and excited.

This tradition carries on with the release of the Doomed Course Chapter, launched on Thursday, November 28. In this update, players meet The Houndmaster, aka Portia Maye, and Taurie Cain. The Houndmaster brings a new twist to gameplay with her vicious hound that acts on her commands. This AI-controlled animal can track down and harass survivors, adding a fresh layer of strategy to the game by consistently applying pressure.

Controlling the hound is straightforward yet impactful. With its Chase ability, players can guide it to charge and alter its route. The Search ability, on the other hand, unveils any survivors within its expanding radius. When The Houndmaster follows her hound closely, she gets a speed boost, making for a dynamic addition to the Killer lineup that alters the traditional cat-and-mouse dynamic.

Turning the spotlight to Taurie Cain, Behaviour Interactive describes her as the “morally darkest Survivor” they’ve ever released. Her shadowy past involves a confrontation with the Black Talon sect after sparing an innocent life, which puts her in a complex position. Taurie comes armed with three distinct perks—Shoulder The Burden, Clean Break, and Invocation: Treacherous Crows. These are crafted around the notion of sacrifice, where aiding fellow survivors often results in personal penalties like the Injured or Broken status.

The Doomed Course DLC is available for $7.99, and it comes with exclusive items, such as the Titanium Skull for the Killer and a unique Gold Tier cosmetic for survivors. Based on past updates, fans can probably expect the next chapter around late February or early March 2025.
