Currently, Avowed isn’t scheduled for a PlayStation release, but if you’re a PC player, a few mods might help you believe otherwise.
It’s hard to shake off the feeling that Avowed might eventually make its way to PlayStation, don’t you think? I mean, Xbox’s Phil Spencer is often talking about bringing their games to more platforms. Even Halo is rumored to be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. So it’s tough to imagine that Avowed won’t eventually land on the PS5, even if it takes a year or so. For now, though, you can only play it on Xbox Series X/S and PC, both of which are great options. Personally, I prefer the PlayStation interface; it just feels like home.
Thankfully, modders are on our side in these situations. They’ve already put together a mod that switches the game’s controller interface to match PlayStation buttons. Want to interact with an object? Just press the square button! Need to jump? The cross button has your back—except if you’re dealing with Kingdom Hearts, but let’s not go there. This mod, crafted by NeuroticNinjah, is a straightforward fix, especially for those who are impatient or prefer their PlayStation controller on PC when the button icons do not align.
And that’s not the only mod in town to help you create the illusion of playing Avowed on a PlayStation. Enter modder Chachinito, who designed a mod that swaps the Avowed splash screen with a PlayStation Studios one. This tweak doesn’t affect gameplay, but it helps PlayStation die-hards who dabble in PC gaming feel a little less sore about it technically being an Xbox exclusive. Sometimes, a bit of spite can lead to a chuckle or two.
We’ll have to wait and see if Avowed finds its way to PlayStation before the release of new DLC or a potential sequel, which the game’s director seems to be considering. Given how long these things tend to take, it seems likely.
