Exciting times are ahead for Fallout 76 fans, with a new update just around the corner. This addition marks another chapter in the ongoing revival of the game.
Last year, the introduction of the first map expansion brought a lot of changes, including fresh bosses, raids, weapons, and more. Players can also experience the game in a completely new way by playing as a ghoul, catering to both long-time fans and newcomers. Despite these additions, something still felt missing — until now.
Fallout 76’s initial release didn’t exactly go smoothly. It took a fair amount of time and a dedicated effort from Bethesda for the game to finally start getting the positive nods it deserved on Steam. Criticisms about bugs, server hiccups, and general roughness were common, but there was one glaring omission that players couldn’t overlook: the absence of fishing.
Even the popular Fallout Amazon series couldn’t fill this gap in the game. But thanks to the latest update on the public test server, players can finally cast their lines into the waters of Appalachia.
Fishing has officially arrived in Fallout 76. Bethesda has introduced Fisherman’s Rest, a new spot in the Mire where players can dive into this new feature. Here, you will encounter Captain Raymond Clark, the enigmatic Fisherman, and his unusual companion, Linda-Lee, a giant hermit crab who has made a fishing boat her home. Good luck trying to communicate with the mysterious Fisherman!
The “Casting Off” questline gives you the opportunity to obtain your first fishing rod. From there, you can head to any swimmable body of water to try your hand at fishing. As they say, “If I can swim, then I can fish.”
Fishing isn’t just a simple activity, though. Factors like weather can influence the fish you attract, and the fishing rod itself can be upgraded. Plus, players can showcase their catches as trophies in their C.A.M.P. bases.
In addition to adding fishing, Bethesda has adjusted the mechanics involving limbs and crippling, along with rebalancing various perks. You can check out all these changes in detail in the complete patch notes. The public test server is open to players on Steam, so grab your gear and start fishing! 🎣🐟🐡🦈
