Virtuix is unveiling a new immersive experience for its Omni One VR treadmill, introducing a tourism app that lets users explore some of the world’s most iconic locations like never before.
Slated for release on March 6th, this app, known as TREKS, seamlessly blends high-quality immersive video with the physical act of walking, transporting users to breathtaking sites such as the Grand Canyon, New York’s Central Park, and the historic interiors of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Crafted by the in-house team at Virtuix Studios, TREKS will be sold exclusively through the Omni One Game Store, carrying a price tag of $30. At launch, the app will feature four major destinations to explore:
- Grand Canyon: Traverse the trails and soak in the stunning views from the cliff tops of this natural marvel.
- Niagara Falls: Feel the immense force of the falls from perspectives on both the American and Canadian sides.
- New York City: Wander through iconic landmarks including the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Dive into the rich tapestry of history at Fort Masmak and marvel at the architectural beauty of Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios has announced plans to expand this offering, rolling out additional locations as downloadable content over the coming months, featuring more landmarks and sites of historical and natural significance. According to the company, each hour spent walking through TREKS can burn up to 500 calories.
Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix, shared his enthusiasm for the project by stating, “With TREKS, you’re not just watching these destinations—you’re moving through them. It’s a great way to stay active while exploring some of the world’s most iconic places. Fitness and adventure go hand in hand, and TREKS brings that to life in a whole new way.”
The Omni One system, which retails for $3,495, comes with the unique VR treadmill as well as a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset supports native apps via its internal processor and can also connect to a VR-ready PC, either wired or wirelessly.
Following a recent announcement, the Omni One now boasts compatibility with over 55 titles, featuring exciting games like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. Additionally, thanks to its Omni Connect PC Driver, the all-in-one system is also compatible with SteamVR games, allowing users to adjust settings and create custom controls for games that were not initially designed for immersive walking experiences.
