Hello Team,
I wanted to take a moment to bring you up to speed on some important news about Sigil. After spending several months in the alpha testing phase, we’ve come to a decision that our initial hopes for Sigil to stand alone as a major game with its own distinct monetization approach won’t materialize as planned. Because of this, we’re unable to sustain a large-scale development effort, and as a result, most of our Sigil team will be parting ways with the company this week.
Nonetheless, we’re really proud of what this talented team has created, and it’s essential for us that fans and players over at DDB get to enjoy it. With that goal in mind, we’re transitioning Sigil to function as a new feature within DDB. We’ll keep a smaller team dedicated to maintaining Sigil and releasing the products we’ve already developed at no extra cost to users. For those who will be leaving due to this change, we’re committed to offering strong support, which will include severance packages, a bonus for 2024, career placement services, and exploring internal opportunities where possible.
I’d also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the entire Sigil team for their phenomenal effort in bringing this product to life for our community. Here at D&D, one thing I truly value is our shared sense of purpose. We’re all about honoring our current players while also ensuring D&D continues to forge connections and spread happiness to future generations. This very mission was at the heart of what the Sigil team was doing. Even though we couldn’t fully realize our expansive vision for Sigil, the team has much to be proud of.
Thank you all for your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best,
Dan
