Star Wars: Visions is making a return with more exciting anime one-shots, as Volume 3 is slated for release next year. With the Star Wars universe experiencing a bit of turbulence ever since the contentious launch of Rise of Skywalker in 2019, Visions has emerged as a standout among the various projects from the franchise. For those who haven’t had the chance to dive into it yet on Disney+, Visions operates as an anthology series, featuring unique episodes crafted by different animation studios from around the globe. Initially, it mostly partnered with renowned Japanese studios like Studio Trigger—famous for Cyberpunk 2077—but by season 2, it also collaborated with Aardman, the creative minds behind Wallace and Gromit. And for the fans eagerly awaiting more, there’s exciting news from StarWars.com: another season is indeed on its way, bringing with it some impressive creative talent.
To kick things off, Studio Trigger is back for another episode. Their past work offered a boldly creative, alternative universe, gender-swapped rendition of the original trilogy, which has me eagerly anticipating their fresh take this season. Then there’s David Production, who you might recognize from their work on Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Production I.G, synonymous with the classic Ghost in the Shell. Additional studios in the mix include WIT Studio, noted for powering the early seasons of Attack on Titan, as well as Kamikaze Douga, Anima, Kinema Citrus Co., and Project Studio Q.
The only small snag is that we’re still waiting on a specific release date—what we know so far is it’s projected for a 2025 launch. While that seems just around the corner, fans will need to exercise a bit of patience.
Meanwhile, Disney and Lucasfilm appear to be navigating their next steps on the cinematic front. Recent reports suggest they’re contemplating a fresh trilogy featuring the return of Rey, showcasing their ongoing efforts to map out the future of Star Wars films.
