We’re well into 2025, and I trust you’re diving deep into our January TA Playlist pick, Metro: Last Light. But as we pop our heads out of those metro tunnels, it’s time to shift gears and decide on next month’s spotlight game.
Everyone loves a solid sequel. Given that February is the year’s second month, we’re revisiting last year’s theme of “Two for Two”—co-op games best played with a buddy and featuring “two” or “2” in their titles. Last year, Gears of War 2 clinched the win, but there are three other gems we left behind. So, we’re bringing them back for a rematch and tossing a new contender into the mix. Now, let’s get to it—cast your vote for “Two for Two 2!”
### Overcooked! 2
First on the table is Overcooked! 2, the delightful party game that spices up the original’s culinary chaos. Born from the creative minds at Ghost Town Games and Team 17 Software, this 2018 entry ramps up the fun with fresh gameplay elements and a hearty serving of multiplayer action, perfect for partnerships.
Return to the whimsical Onion Kingdom and gather your chef team, whether you’re opting for classic couch co-op or jumping into some online excitement with up to four players. Don your aprons… and get ready to save the world once more!
With a solid 4.11 out of 5 stars on TA, Overcooked! 2 has been a hit among nearly 280,000 tracked users. Yet, just under 4,000 players have managed to conquer all achievements—a mere 1%. The main game offers 26 achievements, accessible on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and should take around 10 hours to complete. For the truly dedicated, achieving all 54 achievements could span 20-26 hours.
### Unravel Two
Next, say hello to Unravel Two, a charming puzzle platformer crafted by Coldwood Interactive and released under Electronic Arts in 2018. This sequel to Unravel introduces a delightful co-op twist and is ready to test your skills via Xbox Game Pass through EA Play.
In Unravel Two, as you sever old connections, new bonds emerge. Personalize your Yarny character and forge powerful friendships with other Yarnys, whether in local co-op or solo play, as you navigate the beautifully designed levels together.
Boasting a 3.81 out of 5 star rating on TA, over 148,000 players have tried to untangle this adventure. Less than 400 have snagged all 28 achievements due to some complex speedrunning targets. Completing the game is estimated to take 25-30 hours, but don’t fret; a walkthrough by vSully is there to keep you from getting tied up in knots.
### It Takes Two
The third contender, and the only non-sequel, is It Takes Two, from Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts in 2021. Available on Xbox Game Pass via EA Play, it also offers a “Friend’s Pass” so you can share the fun with a buddy even if they don’t have Game Pass—just keep in mind they won’t earn achievements this way.
This genre-blending platform adventure has you and a friend stepping into the shoes of Cody and May, both transformed into dolls by a spell and thrust into a fantastical realm. To navigate their way out, they must patch up their troubled relationship—an adventure filled with humor and heart.
Earning a robust 4.61 out of 5 stars from TA users, It Takes Two features the highest completion rate among our nominees. Of the 218,000+ tracked gamers, over 24,600 (around 11%) have achieved full completion, which takes roughly 12-15 hours.
### Portal 2
A revered sequel steps onto the scene here—Portal 2. Developed by Valve and released back in 2011, this powerhouse of a puzzle-platformer isn’t featured on any subscription service currently but was once part of Games With Gold. So if you snagged it then, it might already be in your digital library.
Return to the enigmatic Aperture Science Testing Facility, where Chell, our silent protagonist, must once again rely on her wits, agility, and, of course, her trusty portal gun to navigate a series of intricate test chambers and make her escape. GLaDOS is back, along with new companion Wheatley and the legendary voice of Cave Johnson (J.K. Simmons), as you uncover the facility’s storied past. Dive into the co-op mode for an entirely new set of challenging test chambers to tackle with a friend.
Perched at a stellar 4.62/5 star rating, Portal 2 stands as the top-rated pick on our roster this month. Over 272,000 players have embarked on this adventure, with just over 15,000 (6%) achieving all 50 achievements. Full completion might take 15-20 hours, but with guidance from N18p73pwn3r’s walkthrough and a good co-op partner, you might blaze through those chambers even quicker.
