The well-known handheld console maker, Ayaneo, has unveiled its newest flagship model, the Ayaneo 3. Building on the successful formula of its predecessor, the new console maintains a familiar shape and button layout while bringing in some exciting hardware enhancements.
As per Ayaneo’s official blog, the Ayaneo 3 will be available with a choice of two processors: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Accompanied by either a seven-inch high-refresh LCD or an OLED HDR display, the console promises an incredibly immersive gaming experience. Notably, Ayaneo has introduced two additional buttons at the back of the device, offering users greater control possibilities.
However, Ayaneo has yet to disclose more specifics about the Ayaneo 3. We’re still in the dark regarding its RAM, storage, and pricing. If we consider the Ayaneo 2 as a reference, it comes in configurations with 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 512GB to 2TB. It was launched with a price that started at $1,099, escalating to $1,549 for the limited-edition B.Duck model. Given this information, it’s reasonable to anticipate similar offerings for the Ayaneo 3, potentially at a slightly higher cost.
Making a significant mark in the handheld gaming sector, the Ayaneo 3 is one of the first consoles to integrate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. While many current games may not fully utilize the NPU present in the HX 370 chip, the console’s four extra cores, Zen 5 architecture, and AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU provide it with substantial power, even more so than the widely-used Ryzen Z1 Extreme in existing PC gaming handhelds.
The Ayaneo 3 is entering a marketplace brimming with outstanding options. As it stands, we anticipate the launch of competitors like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two by late this year or in early 2025. It’ll be interesting to see how the Ayaneo 3 plans to stand out from the crowd and what unique experiences it will bring to enthusiasts of handheld gaming consoles.
