Remedy Entertainment recently hosted an engaging developer livestream to showcase their upcoming title, FBC: Firebreak. This three-player co-op PvE shooter pulls players into a world where the "Federal Bureau of Control" hires them to tackle and neutralize bizarre and otherworldly threats. The game shares its universe with the acclaimed adventure game, Control.
During the livestream, fans were treated to a slew of announcements. Among these was the unveiling of new missions known as "Jobs," details about a Deluxe Edition, and the much-anticipated release date, which is June 17, 2025.
What’s New with FBC: Firebreak?
In the presentation, the developers revealed intriguing new Jobs like "Hot Fix," alongside a deeper look at the previously teased "Paper Chase." Imagine facing off against a peculiar adversary like "Sticky Ricky," a giant monster made of sticky notes. Each Job in the game presents a unique set of tasks and environments, requiring players to collaborate effectively to earn their rewards.
Requisitions and Rewards
The team also introduced the "Requisitions" system, a feature that lets players earn new gear and cosmetic upgrades by actively participating in gameplay. This includes a variety of items such as weapons, armor, and sprays, all purchasable with in-game currency. Notably, these items are permanently available once they are added, avoiding the frustrating limited-time offers.
For players looking to personalize their experience further, "Classified Requisitions" offer premium cosmetic items that can be bought with real money. These are purely aesthetic and don’t affect the gameplay, providing a chance for players to adjust their in-game look without impacting their performance.
Remedy promises ongoing support for FBC: Firebreak, with free content updates planned post-launch. This will include new Jobs arriving soon after the game goes live and more content slated for 2026.
Deluxe Edition and Pricing
To spice things up, FBC: Firebreak will be available in a Deluxe Edition, priced at $49.99. This edition comes loaded with exclusive cosmetics and premium voice packs, offering additional options for character customization.
Included in the Deluxe Edition:
- The full game
- Multiple premium voice packs
- Special armor sets and skins
- A unique spray and a collection of 36 cosmetic items
Players who initially choose the standard edition can upgrade to the Deluxe for an extra $10.00.
A New Adventure for Remedy
FBC: Firebreak represents a bold move for Remedy Entertainment, which is primarily celebrated for single-player narrative-driven experiences like Alan Wake and Quantum Break. Nevertheless, their track record of delivering quality games sets high expectations, and this new venture into PvE multiplayer looks promising. Jez Corden, Executive Editor, was notably impressed during a preview event, raising hopes even higher.
Gamers can look forward to exploring this exciting new co-op shooter when it hits the market on June 17, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and PC through Windows and Steam.
