Nintendo has exciting news for its fans in the United States. Starting April 24, you can reserve your Nintendo Switch 2, with pricing consistent with earlier announcements. The base console will be available for $449.99, while a special bundle featuring Mario Kart World will cost $499.99.
The initial plan for pre-orders was set back due to the need to gauge how tariffs and shifting market conditions might affect proceedings. This delay arose soon after the console’s reveal, coinciding with tariff announcements from then-President Donald Trump. Although pre-orders were slated for April 9, subsequent tariff negotiations prompted a reassessment.
While the main console prices hold steady, some accessories are getting a slight bump in cost. Joy-Con 2 controllers initially priced at $89.99 will now sell for $94.99. Meanwhile, the Pro Controller sees a price increase from $79.99 to $84.99. Other accessories, including the Switch 2’s camera, dock set, wheel set, and charging grips, will also have a revised price.
The console’s release is on track for June 5, marking a fresh chapter for Nintendo fans. Alongside it, two major game titles will launch: Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Banaza, scheduled for July 17. Thankfully, these remain unchanged in cost, sticking to $79.99 and $69.99 respectively.
Switch 2 comes loaded with improvements that set it apart from its predecessor. Look forward to a larger screen complete with HDR, an additional USB Type-C port, and enhanced graphics courtesy of a new Nvidia chip. Despite a higher starting price than the original Switch’s $299.99, the features promise an engaging experience. Some fans, however, are hopeful for price reductions, expressing their wishes during Nintendo’s live announcements.
Nintendo expressed regret over any unease caused by these delays and assured fans they’re doing their best to keep things on track.
