Exciting news for gaming enthusiasts—Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have officially kicked off the development of Space Marine 3. This announcement has been made on the Focus Entertainment website, stirring up plenty of buzz amongst fans and industry insiders alike.
Space Marine 2, the predecessor, has been nothing short of a success, boasting sales of over five million copies. Such triumph reinforces the game’s prestigious position in the ever-expanding Warhammer 40k gaming universe. The recent announcement also included some interesting comments from key figures: John Bert, the Deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment Publishing, and Matthew Karch, the CEO of Saber Interactive.
Reflecting on the journey, John Bert had this to share: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the passionate reception from our community after launching Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Our team is committed to delivering outstanding content and regular updates in the years ahead. It’s exciting to be able to reveal that the journey continues with Space Marine 3. We’re rolling out a gripping campaign, dynamic multiplayer experiences, and groundbreaking innovations that will reset the bar for third-person action games. Developed alongside Games Workshop, our next installment will feature grand battles that promise to be even more epic.”
Adding to the conversation, Matthew Karch stated: “Space Marine 2 has been a game-changer for Saber, representing everything we’ve absorbed about game development over our 25 years in the industry. As we embark on creating Space Marine 3, we’re aware of the high expectations from our ever-growing fanbase. We will continue to expand and enrich the Space Marine 2 universe while channeling our learnings into an even larger and more awe-inspiring game. This is a chance to craft a heartfelt homage to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.”
These early insights have undoubtedly piqued curiosity. The timing couldn’t be better for the Warhammer 40K franchise, with an Amazon series featuring Henry Cavill in the pipeline and a Warhammer 40k MMO from Jackalyptic under development. However, it’s worth noting that Jackalyptic is reportedly facing challenges following an unexpected decision by its parent company, Netease Games.
