Schell Games and Innersloth have some exciting news for Among Us fans: the popular social deduction game is expanding its horizons. Soon, Among Us VR (2022) will not only be available to those with virtual reality headsets—it’s getting flatscreen support that will make it accessible to PC players as well, introducing a whole new level of crossplay capabilities.
The VR game is also getting a bit of a rebrand. Say hello to Among Us 3D, a fresh look that brings PC players into the fold with a gripping first-person experience, something they haven’t had the chance to try until now. This means if you’re playing on a PC, you’ll be able to dive into cross-platform lobbies alongside VR players using Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets.
However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D won’t be directly compatible with the original Among Us game that launched back in 2018. The classic 2D game remains its own separate entity, just like when Among Us VR first hit the scene in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We’re thrilled to introduce the first-person perspective to a broader audience with Among Us 3D. Bringing together VR and PC players opens up even more ways to hilariously betray your crew. Everyone can join in on the chaos!”
Over the coming months, expect to see this rebranding take shape. Updates will soon roll out across various platforms, including store pages and websites, and will be reflected in how the game presents itself overall.
In addition to these changes, Among Us 3D will debut a new in-game currency called ‘Stardust’. This fun addition will let players purchase cosmetic items, helping to support and expand the game’s universe.
While an official launch date hasn’t been set, fans won’t have to wait too long to get a taste of what’s coming. Among Us 3D is slated to make an appearance at Steam Next Fest, where players can enjoy an exclusive early demo of the game before it officially launches.
