Sony recently revealed that a PS5 remaster of Days Gone is on the horizon, but there’s a catch for those who snagged it through PS Plus.
Let’s be real, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when, but at some point during its run of monthly free games, Days Gone was among the titles offered by Sony. So, if you grabbed it back then, it’s now part of your gaming library. Naturally, the news about a PS5 remaster probably got you pretty excited. Owners of the PS4 version have the chance to upgrade for just $10. Sounds great, right? Well, here’s where things get a bit tricky: this deal’s only valid if you actually bought the game, whether it was a physical disc or a digital download, not if you got it via PS Plus.
This detail was unearthed from the fine print on a post by Bend Studio, detailing how to snag that $10 upgrade. It clearly states, “PS4 game redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for upgrade.” It’s a strange decision, especially when you consider that plenty of gamers would probably shell out the $10. Maybe Sony’s betting on the remaster’s full purchase being the more lucrative route.
Days Gone originally launched on the PS4 back in 2019 and while it met with mixed reviews, it seemed to have done alright on the sales front. Unfortunately for fans, a sequel isn’t in the cards. Bend Studio confirmed as much last year, and although a movie adaptation was announced in 2022, we’ve heard little on that front since. It seems like this remaster might be the game’s final hurrah.
The Days Gone Remastered is set to drop on April 25 for PS5 and PC.
