Hey gamers! I’m Oli from Kaizen Game Works, the creative minds behind Paradise Killer. I’m beyond excited to let you know that today marks the launch of a demo for our latest venture, the open-world, mascot management crime drama, Promise Mascot Agency, now ready to explore on the PS5!
Over at Kaizen, we’ve poured a lot of effort into crafting this game, and we can’t wait for the PlayStation community to dive in. I have to say, the PS5 is fantastic. PlayStation has been our playground for years, dating back to childhood memories with the original PlayStation through to the PS4. It’s no secret that I’m a collector of PlayStation and PS2 games, and those classics have a big influence on the design of Promise Mascot Agency.
Remember those PS2 treasures where you hang out and explore? If you’ve spent time with games like Way of the Samurai, Raw Danger, Boku No Natsuyasumi, or Steambot Chronicles, you’ll know what I mean. They offer an experience where you can take things slow, engage with quirky characters, make critical choices, and wander freely. This is exactly the vibe we wanted to nail—a world teeming with mysteries, oddballs, secrets, engaging gameplay, and a unique atmosphere.
In Promise Mascot Agency, you step into the shoes of Michi, an exiled yakuza lieutenant, teaming up with the unpredictable Pinky. Your mission? Revive a failing mascot agency and unravel the underworld intrigue that landed Michi in the supernaturally cursed town of Kaso-Machi. Picture mascots as sentient beings in a community filled with outcasts who just can’t fit in anywhere else. Michi’s goal is to rally a new crew of mascots, guide them to their dreams, and save both the agency and his yakuza family.
Kaso-Machi is shrouded in enchantment, with its central mountain serving as a spiritual playground. Legend and lore saturate the streets. Michi’s objective is to debunk ghost stories, track down rogue sin talismans, and encounter the mythical Tsuchinoko. But there’s a catch—Michi’s time is ticking. The town’s curse is lethal to any yakuza. Can he crack the conspiracy and save the agency before succumbing to the ominous curse?
Our journey began four years ago, in collaboration with talents like Ikumi Nakamura and Mai Mattori, to breathe life into the characters and the world. The result is a wonderfully weird and nostalgic game that marries Kaizen’s flair with Nakamura-san’s artistry. By teaming up with Japanese creatives, we’ve infused the game with rich, authentic experiences. We’ve given our team the freedom to inject their personal touch, culminating in a game layered with diverse influences.
In a delightful surprise, we’ve enlisted some incredible voice talent, including Takaya Kuroda, known for voicing Kiryu Kazuma, who brings Michi to life. We hadn’t anticipated adding voice acting, let alone having Kuroda-san jump on board effortlessly. Joining him is Ayano Shibuya as Pinky, creating a buddy-cop chemistry. The roster includes many talented voice actors, with debut performances from Shuhei Yoshida and SWERY.
As a small team, this ambitious and whimsical 20-hour RPG demanded everything we had, and we are thrilled to finally share it with you. Enjoy the demo and experience the unique features of the DualSense controller on the PS5. Stay tuned for updates on the full release date. Now, step into the game world, fulfill promises, and chase dreams!
Don’t wait—grab the demo now on the PlayStation Store!
