Fast Travel Games has just rolled out an exciting update for their VR shooter, Action Hero (2024), drawing inspiration from the unique gameplay style of Superhot. This update introduces players to a brand new, spine-chilling level and a fresh arcade game mode, elevating the overall experience.
Included in the free update is the eerie new level known as ‘Cult of Darkness,’ which is now accessible on Quest headsets starting from version 2 and up. Meanwhile, Quest 3 and 3S users are in for a treat with the exclusive addition of a new arcade game mode.
In the horror-themed ‘Cult of Darkness’ level, players will have to blast their way through a thrilling and terrifying mission. Prepare to face off against an array of new enemies, including zombies, while wielding exciting new weapons.
The Arcade game mode, available on Quest 3, challenges players to aim for high scores across the game’s existing levels, all of which have been enhanced with updated visual effects and user interface improvements, according to the game developers.
Here’s a glance at the new features that have been rolled out today:
- 6 Core Movies & 6 Director’s Cuts: Dive deep into an action-packed saga. Infiltrate enemy bases for bombastic heists or explore long-forgotten ruins. These adventures span a variety of genres, and after mastering them, players can take on the Director’s Cut versions for even tougher and more wacky scenarios.
- Comfortable, Cinematic Design: Engage in stationary combat, allowing for a focus on physical action rather than constant button mashing. The slow-motion feature lets players dispatch foes with stylish finesse.
- Weekly Shot Challenge & Other Features: Hone your skills to achieve high scores, seek out hidden collectibles, or take it easy with the Relaxed Mode. The Weekly Shot Challenge adds a twist by combining four randomly selected acts into one epic movie, where players can compete for top scores.
Since its exclusive release on Quest last December, Action Hero has captivated players with its exhilarating shootouts, all set within levels inspired by classic movie genres and executed in cinematic slow motion. Priced at an accessible $20, the game has been well-received on the Horizon Store, boasting an impressive user score of 4.7 out of 5 from around 150 reviews.
