Marvel Rivals Discuss PSN Outage Reactions

The team behind Marvel Rivals has recently addressed the frustration among fans due to the game being unplayable on the PS5. This issue arises from a significant PlayStation Network outage, affecting all online games on Sony’s consoles since February 7. Although the Marvel Rivals team is communicating with Sony to resolve this, Sony has yet to provide any updates directly to their players.

NetEase Games, the developers and publishers of Marvel Rivals, have issued an apology to fans due to the inconvenience caused by this unexpected outage. Since going offline in the evening hours of February 7 (ET), PlayStation Network has left players unable to access Marvel Rivals and other titles, marking over 19 hours of downtime as of February 8. Despite acknowledging the problem initially, Sony has not yet given a clear update on their progress or a timeline for resolution.

While Marvel Rivals continues to be inaccessible on the PS5, NetEase has reassured fans that they are actively discussing the problem with Sony, seeking a resolution. However, in the absence of official information from Sony, many PlayStation users have taken to social media, expressing their growing frustration, drawing parallels with the infamous 2011 outage that lasted nearly a month.

Currently, no PS4 or PS5 games can be played online, and the disruption is also affecting several other aspects of the service. Users can’t manage their accounts or stream games, and purchases through the PlayStation Store webpage are also off the table—a fact highlighted by Game Rant’s tests showing difficulties even logging into the PlayStation Store online.

Additionally, PlayStation PC games linked with PSN accounts are hit by this outage. For instance, Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer Legends mode on Steam is temporarily out of action. Given Sony’s silence, it is assumed they are still investigating the underlying issue, which suggests unforeseen circumstances have played a role in this early February 2025 disruption. With these continued network challenges, gamers eagerly await a prompt solution to regain full access to their online gaming activities.
