Gaijin Entertainment, the creative minds behind the popular game War Thunder, have recently shared some exciting news. Their upcoming VR aerial combat game, Aces of Thunder, is set to take off both on PSVR 2 and PC VR platforms later this year.
First announced in 2023, Aces of Thunder initially aimed for a release in the last quarter of 2024, promising to introduce players to some of the most iconic planes from World War history on both SteamVR and PSVR 2. Excitingly, Gaijin has not only included a diverse selection of aircraft from the WWII era, but they’ve also added an impressive lineup from WWI into the mix.
Gaijin is boasting about “legendary fighters such as the Fokker Dr.I, made famous by the legendary Red Baron, and the SPAD S.XIII, the aircraft of choice for René Fonck, the celebrated ace of the Allied forces.” Players can expect these planes to feature intricately detailed cockpits, historically authentic weaponry, and flight dynamics that promise to provide a deeply engaging gaming experience.
These WWI treasures accompany a robust set of WWII aircraft, featuring well-known names like America’s P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet IL-2, the British Spitfire, and Japan’s A6M3 Zero.
Though we’re still in the dark about the exact launch date for Aces of Thunder, the studio has hinted at a 2025 release. Until then, keen gamers can add it to their wishlists on Steam or the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
Pricing details remain a mystery, too. However, rest assured, we’re as eager as you are to catch any updates about Aces of Thunder as its release date approaches.
