XSEED Games, TooKyo Games, and Media Vision have unveiled an exciting new trailer for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, scheduled to land on the Nintendo Switch.
In this thrilling glimpse, we’re introduced to the 12 members of the Special Defense Unit, a group charged with safeguarding their school for 100 days:
Firstly, there’s Takumi Sumino, often referred to as the “Everyman.” He’s your average high school student from an unremarkable family. Despite being a bit indecisive and occasionally pessimistic, when something dear to him is on the line, he’ll fight with everything he’s got.
Next up is Eito Aotsuki, deemed the “Voice of Reason.” Eito is Takumi’s reliable confidant who wears his heart on his sleeve, even if it sometimes comes off as cheesy. Though he’s been frail and sickly from a young age, his sharp mind might just be the guiding force the team needs.
Then we have Darumi Amemiya, also known as the “Manic Emo Dream Girl.” She’s known for her mood swings and love for anything dark and dramatic. Obsessed with tales of death games, she’s fearless in the face of mortality and desires nothing but a theatrical end.
Ima Tsukumo, dubbed “Twin – Big Brother,” is one of the twins, born merely minutes before his sibling. While he appears playful and carefree, there’s a darker undertone to his persona. His only concern is the safety of his sister, Kako, and woe be to anyone who threatens her.
On the other hand, there’s Kako Tsukumo, or “Twin – Little Sister,” the younger of the twins. She’s often seen in her own world, yet her sharp mind and curiosity set her apart. A lover of mystery stories, she dreams of becoming a detective someday.
Kurara Oosuzuki stands out as the “Rich Girl Among Rich Girls.” From one of the wealthiest families ever known, she carries herself with confidence and an air of superiority, hiding behind a peculiar tomato mask that conceals her true identity.
Yugamu Omokage, labeled the “Teenage Assassin,” presents a shocking presence. Having been in the assassination game long before the war began, he believes in his own twisted logic that killing should be an act of love. His morbid hobbies include torture and dissection.
Kyoshika Magadori, the “Ninja Samurai,” has an innocence about modern life that’s almost endearing. Unfamiliar even with basic math, she shares an intense bond with her katana, the sacred Holy Jumonji Sword.
Then there’s Gaku Maruko, known as the “Self-Centered Mood Maker.” Honest about his self-serving tendencies, Gaku’s cowardice is balanced by a strangely refreshing sincerity. Beneath this exterior lies a capacity to genuinely care for others once he opens up.
Tsubasa Kawana, the “Star Mechanic,” is the go-to for anything machine-related. Bright and spirited, she struggles under pressure, often succumbing to nausea when stressed.
Hiruko Shizuhara is the “Ice Queen,” leading the brigade with her icy demeanor. Blunt yet beautiful, she doesn’t hold back her words, nor her ruthlessness in battle, where she derives a strange satisfaction from obliterating foes.
Finally, there’s Sirei, the enigmatic Commanding Officer of the Special Defense Unit. This peculiar little robot acts as both principal of the academy and commander of the unit, orchestrating their mission to fend off invaders.
This intriguing game marks the first collaboration between Kazutaka Kodaka, the mind behind the Danganronpa series, and Kotaro Uchikoshi of Zero Escape fame. They’ve teamed up to direct and script this new adventure.
The narrative revolves around Takumi Sumino, whose mundane life in the Tokyo Residential Complex is disrupted by an unexpected threat. Thanks to SIREI, Takumi discovers the unique power of Hemoanima, which he uses to survive. However, he’s soon coerced into transferring to Last Defense Academy.
At this academy, 15 students are united under SIREI’s guidance, charged with a singular mission: defend the school for 100 days from the menacing School Invaders to ensure humanity’s survival.
Get ready, as The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy will be hitting both physical and digital shelves on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch, worldwide, come April 24, 2025.
