Sanzaru Games, the talented minds behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, have announced that they’ve wrapped up the final content update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, which is exclusive to Quest. Now, the team is teasing their next big adventure.
According to reports from MIXED, Sanzaru has rolled out the last major update for the action-packed sequel to their groundbreaking Rift-exclusive game, Asgard’s Wrath from 2019. The final ‘Cosmic Event’ titled ‘The Long Winter’ began last week, bringing a fresh round of time-limited challenges. Players can dive in to earn points and snag some exclusive cosmetics.
Since its release in late 2023 for Quest 2 and higher, Asgard’s Wrath 2 has provided players with more than 60 hours of campaign gameplay. And that’s without counting the hours spent in those engaging Cosmic Events.
“This marks our last major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2,” the Community Manager shared in Sanzaru’s Discord. They continued, “From now on, you can expect fewer updates. We’ll focus mainly on tackling major issues and bugs. We want to be upfront: there’s no future content planned for Asgard’s Wrath 2. We’ve heard the questions from the community, and transparency is important to us.”
Looking ahead, Sanzaru is shifting gears, with hints of exciting developments on the horizon. They teased, “We’re now channeling our energy into some AWESOME projects and can’t wait to reveal our next big thing to the community.”
While we’re in the dark about what Sanzaru has planned next, it’s interesting to note that after Meta (then known as Facebook) acquired the studio in 2020, the focus was directed towards developing games exclusively for Meta’s XR headsets. Given their success with two significant and highly-polished RPG entries, it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio continues to expand its expertise in this genre. Whatever it is, we are eagerly waiting to see what they cook up next.
