As Season 23 of Apex Legends hits its midpoint, Respawn Entertainment has given us a glimpse into the new mid-season update, set to roll out on January 7. This update, as detailed in the patch notes, promises substantial enhancements for Mirage, Alter, and Loba, in addition to a raft of tweaks across weapons and gear.
Continuing the trend from earlier seasons, Apex Legends’ current season has been host to a series of limited-time events. Among them is the recently unveiled Astral Anomaly, which introduces fresh cosmetics and a fun twist on the game’s playstyle. Drawing reminiscent vibes of the game’s launch, the returning launch royale LTM will offer players a nostalgic trip across a variety of maps including World’s Edge, Olympus, Storm Point, Broken Moon, E-District, and the ever-classic Kings Canyon. Alongside the event goodies, the developers have lined up a slew of balancing changes aimed at shaking things up as we stride closer to the season’s end.
The comprehensive patch notes bring some interesting changes, starting with the character buffs. Mirage sees a makeover with improvements to his Passive, adding the ability to cloak while healing. His perks now include Boozle-Eye for tracking foes, and Renaissance Man, which grants access to class-specific world interactions. Loba, on the other hand, kicks off with a vibrant 99% charge on her Ultimate, meaning her team has immediate access to her Black Market on touchdown. Her abilities see additional tweaks for improved tactical flexibility. Alter, too, benefits with enhancements to her Ultimate, providing the option to deploy multiple Void Nexuses at once.
In terms of weapon adjustments, the Peacekeeper is getting a performance boost, whereas the Mastiff faces a slight pullback to balance its in-game consistency. The Charge Rifle receives adjustments to make it more user-friendly, featuring an increased magazine and tweaks that enable a Select Fire attachment option. Lastly, the RE-45’s damage sees a small yet impactful boost.
These adjustments are part of a broader set of balance updates, which include changes to the team-wide EVO mechanic triggered by Care Packages and ring lethality adjustments. A new Accelerator attachment for select weapons, enhancing both EVO and Ultimate charge for scoring damage, adds more depth to gameplay strategies.
While Apex Legends’ mid-season patch encompasses an expansive list of refinements, ranging from quality of life improvements to bug fixes across Legends and weapons, its impact remains to be assessed over the coming weeks as players adapt and experiment with these changes. Whether you’re a fan of the game’s legendary characters or just in it for the thrills of battle, this update promises a fresh and engaging experience to keep the action heated in the weeks ahead.
