Fortnite players have noticed that a significant feature, the XP Coins that decorated the Chapter 2 map, are conspicuously absent from the Remix season. In Chapter 2, these coins provided a gratifying, straightforward way to earn experience points, yet the Remix has opted to leave this element behind.
As the game of Fortnite has continuously evolved, it has introduced a plethora of new weapons and items. Players have seen the return of classic weapons, items, and popular locations during Fortnite OG and now in Chapter 2 Remix. The revival even includes some beloved challenges, like hunting for gnome statues or targeting weak points with a Pickaxe. However, one activity that a lot of Chapter 2 veterans yearn for is the thrill of chasing down XP Coins. These bright spots were strategically scattered across the map in places such as the Lazy Lake waterfall or on the zipline stretching from Retail Row to Steamy Stacks. Some fans feel it’s a real missed opportunity that the Remix hasn’t brought back these familiar coins alongside the updated Chapter 2 landmarks.
Reddit user Drex678 recently posted a picture of a green XP Coin from Chapter 2, expressing its absence’s lament. Contrary to their belief that fans didn’t notice the omission during Chapter 2 Remix, the responses suggest many players did indeed notice. Though Remix has reintroduced a host of classic weapons, items, and locations from the original Chapter 2, it hasn’t matched the breadth of content brought back by Fortnite OG. Beyond the similarity to Chapter 2 with its familiar elements, Remix also introduces rap legends with their unique points of interest, which weren’t seen before. With Chapter 2 Remix winding down on November 30, there isn’t much time left for Epic Games to reintroduce missing content. As a result, many players are already looking forward to what’s next in the upcoming season.
In Chapter 2, just like with weapons, XP Coins came in different rarities—from green for modest experience gains to orange for more significant rewards. While each coin provided a batch of experience points on collection, the ultimate aim was to gather them all to complete a specific Battle Pass challenge. Given that Chapter 2 Remix has been a shorter season, Epic Games might not have had the time to incorporate every element, as seen with OG. This has led to some fans worrying that memorable elements like XP Coins, Fireflies, UFOs, and beloved locales such as Stealthy Stronghold and Colossal Coliseum, might never make a comeback in the game.
There’s hope, however, that Fortnite Chapter 2 might receive the same nostalgic treatment as Chapter 1 in the future. Epic Games has already announced that Fortnite OG will become a permanent mode, cycling through each Chapter 1 season. This rotation gives avid players hope that after finishing the journey through Chapter 1, the game might eventually revisit and refresh Chapter 2, bringing back some beloved features from its past.
