Hey there! I’m Juan Martinez, the executive producer at Fatshark, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide crew. We’re eager to extend a warm welcome to all you PlayStation gamers ready to dive into the thrilling four-player co-op experience we’ve crafted.
Today marks a special day as we open the gates of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PS5 players who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. The excitement doesn’t stop there because we’re excited to announce that the game will be fully available for all PS5 players come December 3rd.
Since Darktide made its debut on PC back in November 2022, our team has been tirelessly working on expanding the game with nine major additions and over 25 significant updates packed with fresh content and improvements. The PS5 launch aligns with our 10th free major update, Grim Protocols, and the good news is, there’s plenty more lined up for the future.
Now, let’s talk about that signature Fatshark fast-paced combat. Building a game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been a dream for years, and we’ve finally brought it to life with Darktide. This four-player co-op action game lets you step into the shoes of a conscripted convict – affectionately known as a Reject – who fights for the Inquisition to reclaim Tertium from Chaos hordes. Survival entails fluidly switching between melee and ranged combat, a system our team dedicated extensive efforts to fine-tune.
As we geared up to launch Darktide on PS5, delivering an optimal gaming experience was our top priority. With that in mind, we meticulously adapted the game to PS5’s hardware specifications. Players can choose between the Performance mode, offering 60FPS at 1440p resolution, or the Quality mode, which runs at 30FPS on a 4K resolution. For those playing on a PS5 Pro, we leveraged PSSR tech to ensure Warhammer 40,000: Darktide performs seamlessly at 60FPS in 4K.
Our team also paid special attention to the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. We aim for the DualSense to blend effortlessly into the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide experience. From the blast of the iconic Boltgun to the precision of the energy-based Lasgun or the psyker powers of a Force Staff, each weapon switch promises a distinct experience.
The DualSense’s haptic rumble and trigger effects breathe new life into automatic weapons. As you fire, the trigger gives a tangible shake, and the rumble pulses dynamically. When your ammo runs low, the triggers adjust tension, ensuring you’re always aware of your ammo situation. Imagining the chainsword’s blades tearing through the flesh of heretics with that gruesome tactile feedback is sure to thrill, and we’re eager to hear your thoughts when these features launch on December 3rd.
We’ve gone to great lengths to make you feel at home on Tertium by offering a vast array of customization options in the character creator. You can tweak your Reject’s class, appearance, backstory, and voice. Our intention is to allow players a deeply personal connection to the game world and its conflicts.
Classes each boast intricate talent trees, enabling you to shape your gameplay style across three primary domains or a mix of sub-classes. We’ve also overhauled itemization, allowing you to become a master in any of the 40+ weapon families you prefer.
On December 3rd, not only will PlayStation see the game’s launch, but our 10th major update, Grim Protocols, will also arrive packed with content. You’ll get a sneak peek at what’s coming your way!
Prepare to tackle Havoc, a brand-new endgame mode to challenge even the most seasoned operators. But first, gaining mastery over Tertium is a must.
There’s a new mission awaiting in our lineup of 20+ missions, inviting Rejects to uncover the mysteries of the Carnival, known for its dubious distractions and notorious entertainment options.
Additionally, three new weapon families are joining the ranks. Picture yourself cutting swathes through enemies wielding the formidable Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, or the mighty Ogryn Heavy Stubber.
Stay tuned for updates from our official PS5 news channels as we unfold more content throughout 2025. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide makes its PlayStation debut on December 3rd. Welcome to Tertium, Rejects, and may your journey in this grim universe be as thrilling as ever. All hail the Emperor!
