Honkai: Star Rail has pulled back the curtain on Sunday, their forthcoming five-star character, showcasing his abilities and role in the game. The developers, HoYoverse, have slated Sunday’s debut with the launch of Version 2.7, anticipated to hit screens around December 3.
Sunday isn’t the lone new face in the upcoming roster. Another five-star addition, Fugue, is on the horizon, ready to grace the second banner phase expected around December 25. Fans can also look forward to revisiting two beloved rerun characters, Jing Yuan and Firefly, as part of the 2.7 update.
In the latest Character Preview, Honkai: Star Rail gave us a deep dive into Sunday, who many might recognize as Robin’s elder sibling from previous in-game encounters. Sunday even makes an appearance in the boss battle known as Harmonious Choir – The Great Septimus. He aligns with the Path of Harmony, typically associated with support roles. His kit empowers allies and their summons, allowing them to act swiftly and amplifying their damage output. The first time he uses an ability, Sunday boosts an ally’s attack power, and his Normal Attack brings Imaginary damage to a single target.
Sunday’s abilities focus on letting one ally and their summons leap into action and ramping up their attack strength. If an ally has a summon, the boost is even more potent. However, this can’t be applied to other Harmony characters. Further, teammates enjoy a raised CRIT Rate for several turns.
Sunday’s Ultimate, named Ode to Aress and Cicatrix, provides an Energy refill for an ally, influenced by their Max Energy. Allies with summons experience an upgrade called “The Beatified,” which enhances CRIT Rate for three turns, though this advantage vanishes if Sunday falls in battle. His Traces are designed around Energy Regeneration and stripping debuffs from allies. Despite the intriguing mechanics, there’s a bit of buzz among fans who were hoping for a new powerhouse DPS and find Sunday’s supportive nature less thrilling.
Some players hold onto the belief that Sunday could become indispensable in future strategies, given the potential shifts in the meta. While current teams often rely on Break effects, there’s speculation that upcoming strategies might prioritize summoning characters.
As players gear up for this new chapter in Honkai: Star Rail, the connection and synergy with memorable characters, alongside tactical team formations, remain at the heart of this engaging space fantasy adventure.
