Greetings, fellow Xbox enthusiasts! Exciting news is on the horizon as we gear up to unleash our new game, Overthrown, through Xbox Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and PC starting December 5. To sweeten the deal, it’s also hitting Game Pass. For those just tuning in, Overthrown is a city-builder with a chaotic twist. Imagine combining the thrill of city management with the excitement of playing as an anime superhero, all alongside up to five friends. Despite these legendary abilities, your main mission remains—construct a city, shield it from mutants and bandits, and manage its growth. Today, I’m here to share some insights to help you maximize your co-op experience!
Let’s set the stage with a little backstory. Thanks to an ancient crown with soul-stealing powers, you gain the ability to lift objects with ease. Big trees? No sweat. Monster nests? Child’s play. Ever consider lifting an entire sawmill to swiftly collect trees as you sprint through the forest? Why not, when your strength knows no bounds! Add supersonic speed, a record-breaking throw, and a helicopter-like spin attack to your arsenal, and just imagine the fun you’ll have with up to five friends. Can you envision the chaos?
To give you a head start, I’ve got a few handy tips to enhance your co-op play.
### One Crown to Rule Them All
In co-op mode, the Crown is up for grabs on the map and it’s a race to get it first. Every player can wield its powers, but the one wearing the Crown enjoys the most abundant reserve of crown charge, enabling quicker, cooler moves. While cooperation is key, being the most effective player is even more rewarding. Sometimes, the Crown might fall into enemy hands, perhaps claimed by a Tuskar or an Outlaw. That’s your cue for a spirited scramble to reclaim it. Whoever snatches it back receives an extra boost. Remember, Overthrown isn’t about PvP, so no attacking your buddies for the Crown!
### Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
The more workstations you establish, the more citizens populate your city. In cooperative play, allocate tasks among your team—different zones, different jobs equals faster citizen spawn. Perhaps you’re a builder at heart while your buddy thrives in combat. No worries! It’s easy to divvy up tasks in a way that plays to everyone’s strengths.
### Experiment
And here’s my final nugget of wisdom: experiment to your heart’s content. Overthrown was born from a wellspring of curiosity, urging players to wonder, “Can I do this?” or, “What happens if I try that?” The answer is an enthusiastic “Yes, please try it out!” We’ve designed the game to be deeply interactive, teeming with surprise, playfulness, and delightful silliness, all best enjoyed with friends.
We hope Overthrown piques your interest, whether you dive into it solo or with friends in tow. With Xbox Game Preview, we’re tailoring the experience with community feedback, and we’d love for you to join the journey. Mark your calendars for December 5 and embark on your adventure as Overthrown launches on Xbox consoles and PC.
(Note: We initially announced the launch for December 10 but have since corrected it to December 5.)
